Design the Coolest Fort Deck for Your Family

When envisioning the perfect outdoor space for your home, chances are good that it includes a deck design.  Decks are perhaps the greatest spot for easy outdoor entertainment, and there doesn’t seem to be a lot to most deck designs.  If you’re planning to build your own deck this spring, consider taking it to the next level for your family by turning it into a combination fort and deck.  The following are some things to keep in mind when designing a fort deck for the kids:

The first thing you’ll want to do is find a space in your back yard in which to build a deck. Try to build it nearby a couple of large, strong trees – but not so close so that the larger branches get in the way of your enjoyment of the deck. Once you build the deck, you can use the leftover wood in order to build a tree house or two. Don’t think that a tree house has to be all the way up near the top of the tree. You’ll want it at a safe height, and preferably easy to access no matter what your age. One thing to consider implementing is several ways to get up the fort, such as a wooden staircase in the back and a rope ladder in the front.
