Fun Thanksgiving Decorations

Looking for a fun and quick holiday project to dress up your mantel, dining table or front porch? Listed below are several wooden Thanksgiving decorations that you can easily do in a couple of evenings or over a weekend.

  • Make your own wooden name tags. Use small unfinished wooden plaques, sand any rough edges, and paint the entire plaque. Let dry and glue either fabric or wallpaper scraps to the top or leave plain. Then paste a chalkboard decal to the front. Hit the dollar store for some small mini-easels, grab some colored chalk and you are ready for that big Thanksgiving meal!
  • Purchase pre-cut blocks in different size and shapes. Sand and either stain or paint. After completely dry you can paint each block with a letter or word to form a special Thanksgiving greeting. Or be really creative and use one side for Thanksgiving and one side for Halloween or Christmas!
  • Make a clean and simple holiday wreath from wooden dowels. All you need is a circular saw, hot glue gun, a heavy round outdoor pot, approximately 10 wooden dowels of various sizes and a little imagination! After you’re done add a ribbon in fall colors and enjoy!

Please allow Schutte Lumber to supply all your wood working needs this holiday season!
