Local Architects Discuss Green Building and Home Design

In December the Build Green Council of the Kansas City Home Builders Association recently hosted a panel of several of the area’s leading architects to share their views on green building and home design as it stands today. One of the panelists, Wolfgang Trost (left), is the architect behind the 2010 Kansas City Homes & Gardens Boulevard of Dreams Green Living Show Home.

Advancements and issues in green building that were discussed by the panelists include the environmental benefits of Structural Insulated Panels, or SIPs, and Insulated Concrete Forms, the importance of marketing green building products and techniques to consumers, and responsible land development.

One way Schutte Lumber Company has incorporated green building best practices into its business is by attaining FSC, or Forest Stewardship Council, certification. This means we comply with globally accepted forest management practices in an effort to help fight deforestation.
