Pen Turning With Exotic Hardwoods From Schutte Lumber

A customer's collection of pens that he turned using exotic hardwoods from Schutte Lumber.

With over 160 years of experience in the lumber industry, Schutte Lumber knows where to find the finest from the forest and has become well known for an extensive and diverse inventory of common and rather rare lumber. Our selection of exotic hardwoods can help you get results that achieve sophistication, elegance or an Old World style. With such rare and valuable lumber, why let any go to waste?

Pen turning is one of those woodworking projects that is great for using leftover lumber while not requiring a whole lot of time or or expensive materials. All you need is your wood or pen blanks, pen hardware kits and a wood lathe. If you are starting from scratch, Schutte Lumber carries a large assortment of hardwood pen blanks that are immediately ready for turning on the lathe. If you are inexperienced with using a wood lathe, the American Association of Woodturners has safety guidelines for reference.

You may not get the perfect pen on the first try but with a little practice you can be producing beautifully crafted exotic hardwood pens that can become family treasures that will be collected and cherished for years to come.
