Summer Grilling Guide!

If there’s one thing Kansas Citians are experts on, it’s working the grill, especially during the summer months, but did you know there’s more to wine pairings than Pinot Grigio? Our friends at Kansas City Homes & Gardens have devised a list of grill-friendly reds and whites courtesy of Off the Vine Design.

Read on for their recommendations, and check out “The Griller’s Guide” on kchandg.com.

Clos Otto Boxhead White, Australia, is a fruity yet crisp and dry white blend of chardonnay, semillon and sauvignon  blanc that will complement the richness of potato salads and buttered corn on the cob. It is also light enough to pair with summer salads.

Pomelo Sauvignon Blanc, Calif., Mason Cellars provides this great valued wine from Lake County, but it is not blended from several lots like most California sauvignon blanc. It has great citrus and pineapple aromas with rich,  complex grapefruit and fig flavors. Pair it with grilled shrimp or creamy chilled pasta.

Crios de Susana Balbo Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina, is a medium-body red that has a bouquet of spice and cedar. Black cherry flavors and some spice step up any burger experience.

Gain Bay Cabernet Family
, Napa Valley, Calif., is a blend of cabernet, cab Franc and petit verdot. It is a gorgeous red with deep fruit and spice, cherry aromas and an earthy backbone. The complexity of this wine makes it diverse and matches well with almost any grilled meat.
