Tips for Painting Your Custom Milled Moulding

  • Consider the sheen – A matte finish will provide a soft look and will cover up dings and imperfections, but a high gloss finish can be more visually pleasing.
  • Consider a washable paint formula – Your moulding may experience wear and tear over the years – especially if you have kids running around. A washable paint formula makes the moulding easier to clean, which means that you won’t have to repaint it every time you notice a new ding.
  • Use trim brushes – It’s going to be difficult if you plan on painting your moulding using your standard paint brushes. Use smaller brushes instead that were designed for painting trim.
  • Paint the trim last – The trim should be the last surface in the room that gets painted.
