Add Extra Workspace to Your Wood Shop With This DIY Project

Does it seem like your workshop is growing smaller because you are using up more and more of its space? If so, you’re probably wondering if there’s any way you can add extra work space without having to expand your wood shop.  We recommend achieving this by building a fold-down workbench, which will make your use of space more efficient and help you to organize your workshop.

Assembling a fold-down workbench isn’t difficult. The size of the workbench’s surface will depend on how much wall space you have available and how big you want the workbench to be. Pick out a panel that will fit your wall and begin taking measurements and cutting your wood in order to put together the inside frame. You’re going to want to attach a 2 X 4 to the wall. Make sure it’s the size of your panel and that it is at a height where you want your work bench to be. Then you’ll want to attach the panel to the piece that you attached to the wall using a piano hinge. Then all you have to do is attach the legs.
