Eco-Friendly Wood Varnishes
Posted On June 26, 2012
Varnish has always been a good option to seal wood because it is a transparent, hard, protective finish or film. But you may have heard in the past few years that some varnishes are not great for indoor air quality. Not to worry. Here are some eco-friendly wood varnishes:
- Int’l Eco Wood Treatment is a non-toxic wood treatment and preservative that only requires one application.
- Osmo Polyx Oil is made from a mixture of natural vegetable oils and waxes, and is available in satin or matt finish.
- Ecos Organic Paints makes a lear, non-yellowing, odorless, hard-wearing, zero VOC varnish finish.
- U.S. Green Building Council‘s Green Home Guide gives more guidelines for varnishes, including proper disposal.
