Build a Hanging Shelf for Less Than $50
Posted On October 29, 2010
You can build this beautiful hanging shelf for less than $50 in just a few hours with instructions from MyHomeIdeas.com. Before getting started, pick up a 10-foot poplar 1 x 8 and have it cut into four 28-inch pieces at Schutte Lumber in Kansas City. You will also need:
- a quart of paint or finish you like
- 24 feet of 3/4-inch sisal rope
- a 5/8-inch dowel rod cut in 2-inch pieces
- and a plant or wall hook to hang the shelf
- a drill
Now follow these instructions to build the shelf. Remember, when drilling holes through the poplar boards, place a scrap piece of lumber underneath to prevent tear-out. What other building projects are you interested in for your home? Let us know by leaving a comment.
