Cherry Bedroom Furniture Trend Emerges
Once relegated to kitchens and dining rooms, cherry furniture is making its way into the bedroom this season, delivering a richer look consumers want these days, according to Linda Duell of Heavenly Bedrooms in Quakertown, Penn. The move is away from black finishes and toward “cherry, merlot and reddish-brown and reddish-black options,” she reveals.
Cherry is a hardwood that is durable, beautifully grained and has a warm glow. It is often used in cabinetry, furniture, flooring, beams and mantels. Depending on the type of tree, sapwood lumber will have a light pink or whitish color. The heartwood will range from a deep red to red-brown. All types of cherry lumber will have knots and streaks.
Schutte Lumber Company carries S4S cherry as well as S2S in 4/4, 5/4 and 8/4 as well as a nice selection of cherry moulding. Whether for bedroom furniture or traditional cabinets and floors, cherry wood is a timeless choice.
