Green Prefab Options Expand
“Want a stylish eco-friendly home that can be built quickly? You may be in luck as prefabricated options, despite a weak housing sector, continue to expand at varying price levels,” according to a recent article in the USA Today.
Some models are being offered as low as $50,000 to $100,000, such as Nationwide’s one- and two-bedroom ECO Cottages, including the Osprey, pictured, which was on view at this year’s International Builder’s Show.
Others, like Homb, created in partnership by Seattle-based Method Homes and Skylab Architecture, offer five different “100 square-foot triangular modules that like a honeycomb, can be configured or expanded to create many different floorplans.” Designed to meet platinum LEED standards, each Homb comes equipped with green roofs, super insulation and other eco-features.
